  Crossover Upgrade
We now offer an upgraded tweeter fitted a Perspex top box.

The tweeter we use is a great improvement over the standard unit and brings a much smoother and much more refined feel to the SBL.

We use a larger 1 inch dome tweeter from Scanspeak.
  Crossover Upgraded
  The Tweeter.

We use the Scanspeak D2905/970000 unit.

This is much more modern unit than the D2008/10 model fitted to the SBL and SL2.

Driver Highlights: 1" soft dome, SD-2 motor, low compression design, non resonant chamber
D2905  vs Standard SBL 2008
      D2905   SBL D2008
  Power Handling   225W   150W
  Sensitivity   89.5 db   90 db

Performance Vs the standard D2008

The two tweeters have very different responses before the application of the Crossover. The D2905 has a much broader  frequency capability than the D2008 shown by the dashed brown line against the dashed blue line of the D2008.

However when we compare the outputs of the 2 units after the application of the Crossover the two solid lines match at +/- 1db across the key frequency range.

FAQs

Can I do this myself? - of course, my preference for sourcing the drive units is www.lautsprechershop.de  who are excellent or Wilmslow Audio, subject to the £ vs the Euro

Why do you use a Perspex box? It the cheapest way we could supply a tweeter box. The D2905 needs a bigger hole than the D2008 and we don't want do start cutting holes in customer SBLs. This way the mod is completely reversible.

Can I use my existing XO? Yes you can and then you can upgrade to our XOs and get much more out of the tweeters and base unit.

Will you supply just the Perspex boxes? Yes if you twist our arm and give us £80.
